Jean Marie Auel is an American novelist recognized not for a large volume of work, but for a select few high-quality novels known as the Earth’s Children series. Prior to the publication of these books, Auel conducted extensive research on the Ice Age to prepare for her prehistoric fiction series. The Earth’s Children series includes six books released over more than thirty years, beginning with The Clan of the Cave Bear in 1980 and concluding with The Land of Painted Caves in 2011.
